Silver II: Intermediate Silver
Continuing on from our Intro to Silver class – this intermediate level class focuses on fabrication skills in sterling silver. We will design and build a project that incorporates multiple soldering seams, different textures, decorative enhancements, and a gem. We will learn to construct bezel settings for cabochon, faceted gemstones, and fancy shaped stones.
Intro to Silver or equivalent prior course experience required.
We will explore a variety of techniques to create more three dimensional work using shape and texture, from high polish to hammered and oxidized finishes to highlight our design. We will also learn about layering different pieces together and the different types of soldering applications used.
Students may bring their own stones or purchase from the tutor’s collection – gemstone specs will be discussed in the first class. Silver class materials are provided, students should bring their hand tools (please contact us for a list of recommended tools).
