By the end of this class, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the step-by-step process involved in creating their own grills, starting from designing a silicone mold, creating a lost wax design, having a piece cast, and ultimately polishing their final product. Students will leave the class with a set of custom-made grills crafted entirely by themselves, equipped with the knowledge and skills to continue creating unique grills independently.
Once the wax model is finished, we can weigh it to determine the amount of material needed to cast and the cost – we recommend 10k or 14 k gold for this project.
Casting / materials fee is by the weight of the piece and can be paid in class at that time.
Instructor: Aziza-Abdullah.Nicole is a Brooklyn-based sculptor, painter, and builder who grew up in P.G. County, Maryland (DMV). She was raised in the arts, and in museums, after her mother noticed art was her therapy. Through exploring various art forms, Aziza gravitated toward creating sculptures from wax and metal, more commonly known as jewelry.
As an artist who creates with love and intention, she draws inspiration from beauty, history, and her multi-layered heritage, creating a unisex collection of protective layerings and heirlooms that can be passed on for generations.
