Class Description

This 6-week beginner-friendly course introduces students to the basic techniques of wax carving and basic prong setting for jewelry. Students will learn how to sculpt their own designs in wax, prepare them for casting (outsourced), polish their metal pieces, as well as set a round, oval, or cushion cut stone with prongs. Time permitting, students will also learn how to bead set a 3mm round cut stone. The class focuses on creativity, foundational skills, and working with gemstones.

About Me

Hi, I’m Sam and I am 27 years old and from Florida. Since graduating from Brown University in 2024, I’ve been living in Los Angeles and Bangkok. I have 3 years of experience in wax carving, casting, and metalworking, with a particular interest in gemstones. Before I began making jewelry, I founded and worked at a medical technology company called Intus Care. Outside of jewelry, I love skateboarding, surfing, hiking, seeing new art, and traveling. In general, I love helping people with their creative endeavors. I really hope to create a friendly, open, and welcoming space in our classroom and I am excited to see and meet everyone that takes this class.
