Enamel : fusing glass to metal

This class is not currently on our schedule.

Please join our mailing list for updates.

In this 6 week class we’ll cover proper enameling technique that spans from the middle ages to contemporary jewelry design.  Starting with basic kiln fusing, students will make sample charms and pendants to learn the technique.  Next we’ll discuss multiple firing techniques such as sgraffito, plique a jour and cloisonne – and students will design a larger scale piece around one or more of these.  Each week we’ll demonstrate a new multiple firing technique.  Finally we’ll discuss proper sealing and finishing processes for copper and enameled pieces.  Students will leave the class with a good foundation in enameling processes, as well as an understanding of how to execute them at home or in their own studios.
