Articles have been circulating – maybe you’ve seen it here – and Americans seem to be clueing into the Danish way of life & the joy that is HYGGE (pronounced hue-gah)! Denmark is said to be the world’s happiest nation & hygge is a big ol’ part of it – the word broadly means “coziness” but for the Danish, it “is a feeling or mood that comes from taking genuine pleasure in making ordinary everyday things simply extraordinary” be it having a beer with friends or staying in bed till 11am with a juicy novel.
Hygge calls to mind warm gatherings of people and, for us, this means STUDIO TIME! On a cold wintry day, nothing much competes with spending some time at the bench by the glow of torch-fire – wouldn’t you agree? We have just THREE spots left in our Tube Setting workshop at the end of the month (don’t wait!!) and open bench hours next Sunday, February 15, from 1-5pm and every Monday evening 6-9pm if you’re feeling that hygge vibe.
Denmark may be #1 in happiness, but Brooklyn is surely #2!
